Recycling
An effective cycle.
A cornerstone of company philosophy – comprehensive recycling - multiple uses.
The importance of waste management is well known to all leading industrial companies. It is a fundamental problem and the largest environmental challenge we face. Asamer is a pioneer in the field of sustainable recycling and is an expert in the recycling of construction waste, asphalt, concrete and tyres.
ABRG - ASAMER BECKER RECYCLING GMBH
In 1994 the Arnoldstein Lead and Zinc Works was purchased by ABRG and converted into a waste management center. A modern conditioning plant for comminution and conditioning of the delivered waste for thermal utilization was installed. Approximately 60 000 tons of hazardous waste are thermally processed in a fluidized bed furnace as well as in a rotary kiln. The liquid waste accumulated at our own landfill site is cleared in the sewage clarification plant.
Waste Management - Eisenerz
In Styria, Asamer has concentrated its competences in the area of waste disposal in several companies around the Styrian Erzberg. The company „RSE Reststoff Sammlung Eisenerz“ disposes many sorts of waste for municipal customers in the city of Eisenerz. RSE also operates a waste collection center and renders general municipal services.
The landfill “Paulisturz” was built by the RMVG according to the newest technical directives for waste disposal plants. It is a landfill for not dangerous waste and it consists of two lower classes: the residue landfill and the mass waste landfill.
One of the main tasks of the recycling park in Eisenerz (RPE) is the separation of usable fractions from dry and value-rich input materials. Such input materials can be shredder-light fractions from shredder enterprises, or industrial waste from waste treatment plants.
The main task of the RSVG-VH is the treatment and the stabilization of waste with a high percentage of solvent inorganic substances. After the consolidation of this waste, the final storage on the “Paulisturz” can follow.
Construction waste
Construction waste is produced on any building site, large or small. Asamer recycles it and after processing, most of it is reused as a raw material for construction.
Recycling asphalt and concrete
Old concrete and asphalt used to be building waste which had to be disposed of. Using modern, mobile construction machines, this waste material can be processed and reused on site. Recycling directly at the source of waste facilitates an efficient and economic method to build, saving raw materials and long transportation routes. The environmental cost is also noticeably reduced.
Old tyres
ART – Asamer Rubber Technology GmbH is a young company in the Asamer Group which built a facility to granulate and grind rubber in 2002. The plant has a capacity of 30’000 tonnes of old tyres a year. The pure rubber is separated from the steel and textile in the tyres and made into granulated rubber. This granulate is then cooled to below –100 C using liquid nitrogen at which temperature it can be made into extremely fine rubber powder. The resulting steel waste is used by the steel industry, whilst the resulting textile waste is used for insulation or as an industrial fuel.
