Ohlsdorf/Benghazi (23 January 2012). The Asamer Group’s three plants in Libya are going back into operation. Asamer is one of the first companies after the oil industry to resume work following the end of the unrest. Neither the Benghazi and Hawari cement plants (both outside of Benghazi) nor Al-Fataiah (in Derna) sustained any damages. The factories were hence able to resume operations earlier than anticipated.

Asamer is shipping a further 12 pallets containing medicines and baby food to Benghazi with the support of Doka, Hipp and OMV. Asamer employees in Libya were handed to convoy on 15th August 2011 at the Port of Benghazi and transferred them to the "Medical Supply Organization".

In their first relief convoy, Austrian company Asamer has just sent 20 pallets of medicines and bandages for hospitals and doctors in East Libya as well as 20 tons of food by road from Cairoto Benghazi. At the Egyptian/Libyan border in Sallum, the convoy was handed over to Libyan employees of Asamer Group on 4 May and then escorted to Benghazi. Asamer was supported in the planning and organisation by the Austrian Red Cross, the Union of Arab Medicals and Pharmacists in Austria and donors such as the Rauscher company.
