Cement

The No1 Building Material.
Five plants – top quality – high investment – environmentally conscious.

Cement is a hydraulic binder; its most common use is in the manufacture of concrete. Cement is an inorganic, finely ground substance which, when mixed with water, hardens independently over time. Once hardened, cement remains hard, even under water.

Producing one of the most important materials in the building industry is a huge challenge and responsibility. Asamer has three cement plants which all produce cement of the high quality necessary for today’s standards.

Cemmac - Horne Srnie / Slovakia

Cemmac / Horne Srnie is one of the most modern cement plants in Europe. A new production facility with a rotary kiln was opened at the start of the new millennium. The plant also has a production line for analysing raw materials and ensuring quality standards are met (ISO 14001 environmental management standards). Asamer invested over 10 million Euros in the plant for environmental measures alone.
Thanks to Horne Srnie, the Asamer Group is now an independent supplier of gravel, cement and concrete.

FCL - Lukavac / Bosnia

In 2001 the Asamer Group acquired the majority of shares in the Lukavac plant in Bosnia - and the new Fabrika Cementa Lukavac was to become one of the most successful privatization projects in Bosnia-Herzegovina. This achievement was honoured with the FIPA Award (Foreign Investment Promotion Agency in BiH) that the FCL got as best foreign investor in 2008. In the following years Asamer invested mainly in increasing the capacity and modernizing the factory to permit cement production of highest quality at this location, too. Today, FCL is one of the technology leaders among the European cement factories. Experts have praised the factory as "Green Cement Factory", because it works so reliably and cleanly that it can be operated, in all conscience, in the center of the town. The commissioning of the new rotary kiln and the new raw mill, as well as state-of-the-art filter systems have contributed substantially to an ecologically clean production.

LCC - Libya

Libyan Cement Company Inc. is one of the biggest cement manufacturers in Libya. With six product lines at the locations Benghazi, Hawari and Al-Fataiah it covers more than one third of the Libyan cement demand. In 2008 the Asamer Group together with the Libyan government holding company ESDF (Economic and Social Development Fund) took over 90 % of the Libyan Cement Company (LCC). The know-how gained in the cement factory Cemmac in Slovakia, the employment of leading specialists form the entire Asamer Group, as well as a multi-cultural management team on site have defined new standards in the three Libyan factories over the years, securing the future for many, many years to come. By installing new filter systems, the environmental impact has been reduced while simultaneously increasing product quality.
